100 days to go?

Today has just been one of those days that you want to end but doesn't. I have been having problems with my projects at work. They just aren't working like they are supposed to.   I just want to cry.  Not only are things not going so well with my tests, I have to give a presentation on Wednesday.  Have I started???  Of course not.  They say "Oh nothing formal, just a 15 minute talk about the pathways of your cell line, where it holds promise on the disease front and where you are with the project.  The big deal is that this is the first time that I have given a speech at work.  This is like a test to prove that I am a competent employee.  I know that it isn't really true but I don't want to look like a total ass in front of my co-workers.

Not only are things at work not so great we have now hit 100 days to the big day.  I know that may seem like not a big deal but a year ago it was 465 days.  I have watched the days slip by slowly at first now they are slipping through our hands like water.  Each day I grasp for the time that was lost that day.  I feel like the day is going to be here before we will know it and will we have everything done by then?  I sure hope that we can make it through the next 1o0 days.....
I don't know with the road construction on highway 14 I hope I can keep my sanity.

Be Nice to Me...........I Gave Blood Today!!!

Today was the blood drive at Research Park in Madison. I haven't given blood since 10/99. I could not believe that. I used to give blood like it was an addiction. Well atleast twice a year. I always felt that it was my civil duty to do so. I have been hemming and hawing about giving since the flyer came out at the end of June. Well this morning rolled around and I thought that I should go. Now getting people to go is another story. I asked several co-workers if they planned on going. I found two people that would go with me M & J. M had given three times until he was hassled to give because he has a rare blood type. J had never given blood before. He seemed like he wanted to do it but need some encouragement or just someone to go with.

So the three of us hiked up the hill and across the road. I am a speed reader so I read all of my information and was ready to go. M was careful to read the information. J was reading VERY intently not wanting to miss anything. I gave first and was done before M had started. J kept looking at his watch nervously. We were doing pretty good until the needle in J's arm started to move. That is bad enough to have them harpoon you, but then have the arm move too. Yugh. I would have passed out but he held on like a trooper.

So my mission today is to encourage everyone to donate blood. Here are the reasons why:
1. 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 people.
2. Every two seconds, someone in the US needs a blood transfusion. Yet, only 3% of Americans donate.
3. Bring someone with you because most people don't donate because they have never been asked.
4. People really need to donate in the summer because there are higher incidences of accidents and few student donors.
Please go out and GIVE THE GIFT OF LIFE!!!!!

Will the Barking Ever Stop?

As you know we bought a dog in March. He is turning 6 months old a week from today. I know that having a dog is hard work. You have to diligently train him and exercise them and everything. Somewhere in the past 4 months we went wrong. Jackson has turned into a barking, car chasing, cat taunting, peeing on the bedroom floor in the middle of the night fool. So being the good dog parents that we are we want him to stop doing this stuff before we sell him to the people who eat dog(trying to be pc). We keep threatening him that we will do it. But alas it never happens.

So last night I spent a large chunk of my evening at Petsmart. I really like the store a lot. I love all of the fun things that they have to keep our puppy occupied when we can't. It took a large chunk of the evening because the customer service was awful!! I walked around for atleast 10 minutes looking for an associate. I found one over by the reptiles messing with an aquarium. So I patiently waited for several minutes waiting for her to put it back together. When she was finished she started to walk away from me so I said "Ma'am I need some help." To which she replied in a snotty tone "I am helping someone else right now." So I waited for the Bitch to get off the phone to help me get into the pet electronics case to find something to make my dog stop barking. When she finally got off the phone she couldn't help me anyway so I had to wait another 15 minutes for a manager to come and open the case. I finally after 45 minutes walked out of the store with the machine that is supposed to stop dogs barking in an area.

This is a machine that when a dog barks continuously it makes a sound that they can only hear that makes them stop. It also has a manual push button to use when they aren't barking quite enough or loud enough to set the thing off. When I got home I tried it on Jackson several times with GREAT success. I am very happy with it so far.

Now if only they made something like that for Josh.........actually I wish that he would talk more.

What about your Friends?

You know when it comes to friends it is commonly known that you either have a lot of good friends and 1 or 2 best friends or a circle of close friends . When it comes to Josh and I, I feel that we have the circle of close friends. Granted we don't keep up like we should but we are close. For me it has always been hard to keep friends. Don't ask me why, we just lose touch over time or we just grow apart. I feel the group of friends that we have now are the greatest bunch of people that we could have found.

Two of our closest friends got married this weekend. They are the type of people that everyone needs to have in their lives. Mitch and Heidi are so much fun and easy to talk to, they really know how to have a good time. I am SO HAPPY for them. They have found the true love that they deserve. There are not words to express the emotions that I felt this weekend. But, the whirlwind has left me is a blissful state when I really feel as though I should be exhausted. Their loved rubbed off on everyone that attended the celebration.

The greatest part was having almost ALL of our close friends at the wedding. I got to laugh and cry with them. I enjoyed dancing with them. You know I was astonished when Heidi told us they were having nine couples in the wedding(one dropped out leaving 8). You know what every single one of those people loved them as much as I do. What a GREAT bunch of people. I only knew one of Heidi's bridesmaids coming into this and I left feeling a closer to each of them as they all had warm hearts. Never did they make me feel as though I didn't belong, they accepted me with open arms. As for the guys, there was only one groomsmen that I had never met before, but what a guy!! This really gave me a chance to get to know these guys so well and learn about them. I came away keeping a small place in my heart for them.

The hardest thing to deal with was realizing that it was all over. Poor Heidi cried at the end of the evening because her beautiful day was gone, leaving her only with the sweet after-taste and craving more. I am saddened at the fact that these people as close as we have grown in a short period of time may only see each other a handful of times in our lives. They are the greatest kind of people to know. Here is a top fifteen(ten was just not enough)list:

Top fifteen things I will remember from Mitch and Heidi's wedding!
15. Getting my first mani/pedi now I am hooked.
14. Learning that Snuggles, who set his wedding date for the same day as ours is no longer getting married. Now we don't have to fight over our friends.
